BATA started its activities on 2000-12-10
as a body of general interest, with authorities determined within
Law on Accreditation of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The fundamental tasks of BATA consist of the assessment,
accreditation and surveillance of testing and calibration laboratories,
certification and inspection bodies, of the organization of proficiency
testing, interlaboratory comparison tests and other measures to ensure
the quality of measurement and test results, as well as of measures
creating confidence for the end users and supervisory boards.
BATA as an accreditation body is, according to Standard
ISO/IEC 17011, responsible:
- to develop the rules of procedure for: the accreditation, the surveillance
over the accredited bodies, extending and reducing accreditation,
and condition under which accreditation may be suspended and withdrawn
as well as to review and amend these procedures, with the aim of bringing
them in conformity with international and European procedures,
- to conduct accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories,
certification bodies for certification of products, services, management
systems and personnel, and of the inspection bodies performing inspections
and similar activities,
- to develop the requirements placed before the staff and the assessors
which participate in accreditation procedures, their training, appointment
and assess their work,
- to participate in European and international accreditation organization,
and to represent the interests of B&H there,
- to initiate and sign bilateral and multilateral agreements on co-operation
and mutual recognition,
- for other assessments and confirmations of competency for carrying
out the conformity assessment procedures, including filling out requirements
for the bodies for conformity assessment in accordance with particular
provisions on conformity assessment,
- for preparation and publication of the lists of the accredited laboratories,
certification and inspection bodies, as well as the information about
BATA.
On 2005-06-08 BATA entered into
membership of EA (European co-operation for Accreditation)
as the Contract of Co-operation member.
